ABANDONED CHAIRS – VERLASSENE STÜHLE
Ein Sitz mit Rückenlehne ist eines der ältesten Möbel der Welt, nachgewiesen seit der dritten Ägyptischen Dynastie 2500vC. Während die meisten anderen Möbel Objekte unterstützen, unterstützt der Stuhl den Menschen. Der Stuhl ist aber auch ein Indikator für die Würde eines Menschen. Man nimmt sich nicht einfach einen Stuhl, er wird einem angeboten.
Ich habe überall wo ich in der Welt unterwegs war, Stühle fotografiert. Nicht irgendwelche Stühle, sondern verlassene, herrenlose; würdelose Stühle. Durch die Fotos erhalten sie ihre Würde zurück
und werden wieder ein Teil jener Gesellschaft die sie ausgesetzt hat.
Denn auf dem Rücken der Stühle haben wir beschlossen die Welt zu erobern.
The chair, a seat with a back, intended for one person is one of the most ancient forms of furniture, dating from the 3rd dynasty of ancient Egypt (c. 2650–c. 2575 BC). Of all furniture forms, the chair may be the most interesting. While most other forms (except the bed) are intended to support objects, the chair supports man. The chair is not merely a physical support and an aesthetic object; it is also an indicator of human worthiness. One is offered a chair; one does not just sit down anywhere at all without being asked to do so. Everywhere i have been around the world, i took pictures of chairs. Not any but abandoned chairs. I thus intended to restore the worthiness they were dispossesed of.
On chairsback man took to conquer the world.
