WALTERS WOHNUNG by MICHAEL KOCH

WALTERS WOHNUNG

Walter´s Apartment

The artist Michael Koch is questioning about dimensions and aspects of “Walter´s Apartment” –  a synonym for the state of living of an individual.

Michael Koch`s artworks are instinctively from a natural minimalism. His “wall reliefs” are made of strictly painted wooden panels that are reduced in appearance to the basic forms: circle, cross and square. By the smooth surfaces, the painted works exude a pristine clarity, its reflection creates more space and dimensions.

He investigates about material and surfaces, when is i picture only a two dimensional picture and when will it leave for another dimension and will become a relief or even a sculpture.

Has the surface to be slick and sober or is it possible to combine the intention and the rough surface for emphasizing the request.

A relief is a artificial depiction, lifting up from the background, its a genre of fine arts between sculpture and painting. This interspace can be construed as “Walter´s Apartment”.
